Tulip forcing in full swing
At Fluwel we are presently forcing tulips for the flower auction. A nice but labour intensive job. Twice a day ripe flowers need to be harvested and placed into the cooler. After that they are bundled up in groups of 10 and daily brought to the flower auction at Aalsmeer.
Before the tulips are taken into the heated glasshouse the planted bulbs are stored for 4 months in the cooler at 9 degrees Celsius. After that it takes another 4 weeks at 18 degrees in our glasshouse to bring them into bloom. 5 months of waiting but the results are beautiful.
